I handle your case as if it were my own.
That is not a line for a website. It means you speak to me, not to an assistant. That you know within one working day whether your case stands a chance. And that I will tell you when it does not, even though I earn nothing by saying so.
How I can help
Four areas I work in every day. Almost always the issue is the same: money sitting somewhere it does not belong, or agreements turning out differently than intended.
Debt collection
For twenty years I ran a national debt collection and bailiff organisation in the Netherlands. If a Dutch company owes you money, I know exactly which pressure works and which is a waste of time. No cure no pay on undisputed business claims.
Tenancy law
Deposits that are not returned, contracts that do not comply with Dutch law, landlords who stop replying. Dutch tenancy law protects tenants strongly, and most people renting here have no idea how strongly.
Contract law
A good contract prevents most disputes. I draft them, review them, and litigate when things go wrong anyway. Including general terms and conditions under Dutch law, which are easier to invalidate than most companies assume.
Corporate law
Shareholder disputes and director liability. I spent thirty years as a director and shareholder myself, so I know what such a conflict does to a company, a workforce and a family.
What happens after you call
Usually I answer myself. If you get voicemail, I call back the same day. No call centre, no intake form, no queue.
Free of charge, at my office, at your home or simply by phone, in English. You talk, I listen, and by the end of that hour you know whether you have a case.
You get an estimate of your chances and of the cost, often as a fixed fee. I start only once you say yes. Until then you pay nothing.
I keep you informed, including in the weeks when nothing happens. That is where most of the frustration sits, and it is entirely avoidable.
Why a one lawyer firm
At a large firm you meet a partner and get a trainee. With me that is impossible, because there is nobody else. That has a drawback: I cannot take on everything, and I will say so when your case belongs elsewhere. In my view the advantage outweighs it easily. Your file sits in the head of the person who runs it.
I am also not a lawyer who put on the gown straight after university. I spent thirty years on the other side of the table, as an entrepreneur and a director. I know what litigation costs in time, money and sleep, and I will never talk you into a case that is not worth it.
Where I work
For debt collection I act throughout the Netherlands. Proceedings run before the court where your debtor is established, which can be Groningen or Maastricht. Distance makes little difference, and you never need to travel.
For tenancy law, contracts and corporate matters the centre of gravity is closer to home, simply because I can come to you. My office is on the Spoorlaan, directly opposite Tilburg central station, with parking at the rear.

Not on the list? That means nothing. Call and we will see whether it works practically.
Put your case to me
The first conversation of up to one hour costs you nothing and commits you to nothing. Afterwards you will know whether you have a case, roughly what it will cost, and whether I am the right person for it.
